Behind the high walls and gates of a California prison, inmates escape from prison every day -- even if it's only in their minds. Inmates in prison say they are much calmer and hopeful thanks to an yoga program for the prison's inhabitants called the Prison Yoga Project that has been around for 18 years.

Inmates are able to get 10 days off their sentence for every 52 hours of practice, local media reports. But the payback goes beyond an earlier release. A group of a 25 inmates, have been taking yoga classes from instructor Bill Brown as a way to cope with the rough life of prison. According to local media, 50 inmates are on wait-list, and the wait-list is about a year long.
