Preserving traditional heritage: MoHT held a traditional Htamane-Making competition

To preserve and value Myanmar traditional cultural heritage, foster cooperation and unity among the personnel, and promote understanding of the essence of Myanmar's 12 annual festivals, the Myanmar Traditional Htamane-Making competition for 2025 was held at the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Office No. (33) in Nay Pyi Taw.

The Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, U Kyaw Soe Win, attended the event and gave the opening speech.

In his opening remarks, the Union Minister emphasized the importance of linking Myanmar's 12 annual festivals, competitions, and tourist destinations, to promote Myanmar as a prominent and attractive tourist destination. He stated that it is essential to effectively showcase the essence of Myanmar's traditional festivals and use technology to enhance tourism promotion, especially to increase international awareness.

The Minister also mentioned the need for collaboration between the government and the private sector to integrate Myanmar's festivals, competitions, and tourism regions to develop "Festival Tourism."

He encouraged the competition participants to uphold and value Myanmar's traditional customs and to compete fairly with unity and integrity. Following the opening, the officials responsible for the judging panel explained the competition rules and scoring systems. The event then officially commenced with the preparation of Htamane.

The Union Minister, Deputy Minister, and officials observed the various teams competing in the Htamane-making contest.

Later, the Union Minister, Deputy Minister and officials from Nay Pyi Taw Hoteliers Association and Tourism Association presented prizes to the teams that won first, second, third, fourth, and fifth places, as well as those that received special awards. The teams were awarded prizes, and the staff members were treated to Htamane. Group photos with the competition teams and memorable snapshots were taken as part of the event.
