Preparation for Thingyan : Kayah State gears up for Thingyan Festival

Kayah State Chief Minister U Aunt Maw inspected preparations for the 2026 Thingyan Water Festival in Loikaw on Saturday. He oversaw the completion of the main pandal and other areas set up for walking Thingyan, Thanaka festival, Htamane, and Laphet celebrations.

He instructed to organize the festival systematically, ensure enough water supply, and highlight Myanmar’s traditional culture. The festival will include 13 dance groups, entertainment programs, and modern music performances.

This year will be more lively than previous years, with additional traditional activities and a Traditional Thanaka Beauty Contest. The contest will be held during the festival days, and winners will be awarded on the final day.
