Postgraduate Medical Training Courses : Postgraduate Medical Education Board held its meeting

On 23rd May, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board held its meeting at the Ministry of Health, aiming to open 2026 Postgraduate Medical Training Courses at the Universities of Medicine and Medical Affiliated Universities. 

The Union Minister for Health Dr. Thet Khaing Win attended the meeting and delivered a speech. In his speech, the Union Minister called for the concerted efforts of the relevant departments and organizations to develop human resources in medical industry in order to providd sufficient and qualified healthcare services to public in timely manner. 

Highlighting the crucial role of postgraduate medical education for the emergence of qualified specialists in respective fields, the Union Minister emphasized to turn out professionals who are reliable and can contribute to the interest of the nation and its people. 

Then, the officials made clarifications on matters related to admission and enrolment process of 2026 postgraduate medical training course as well as determining the number of students as per subject. The Postgraduate Medical Training Courses have been conducted since 1964. 

Moreover, a total of 18 Diploma courses, 60 Master of Medical Science Courses and 66 Doctoral Degree Courses were opened successfully. These courses turned out over 3,800 Diploma holders, over 11,400 Master of Medical Science Degree holders and more than 1,600 Doctoral Degree holders as of March 31, 2025. 

Then, the Union Minister received 10 million kyat cash assistance donated by Internal Medicine Society for the earthquake affected medical staff and patients and presented honorary certificates in return.
