Police: two people killed in AL church shooting

A shooting at a church in a suburb of one of Alabama's major cities left two people dead and one wounded Thursday evening, police said, adding a suspect was taken into custody.

The shooting occurred at Saint Stephen's Episcopal Church in the Birmingham suburb of Vestavia Hills. The officers rushed to the church after dispatchers received a call reporting an active shooter at 6:22 p.m.

The Capt. of the Vestavia Hills Police Department, Shane Ware said the shooter acted alone and "A lone suspect entered a small group church meeting and began shooting. There was "no threat to the community at this time.
