


The petition movement for the global campaign “Every Child, Everywhere, In School” and was held in Yangon on Monday.
The campaign was aimed to ensure the right of children to be in school and to receive a quality education. It was organized by The Adventist Development and Relief Agency Myanmar (ADRA Myanmar) with the support of Myanmar Union Mission and the petition is a part of movement in a sustained global campaign.
Petitioner, Khin Maung Tun said “The community has to willingly participate in the campaign like this. Because the world will notice and get recognition the conditions of children in Myanmar and we can get the support from them through the campaign like this.”
There were total one million signs expected to be collected as the global range till June 2020. And ADRA Myanmar estimated to receive the 7 thousand petitioners in a participation of this global campaign. The result of petitions will be presented to the world leaders calling on them to take more action.
Advocacy Officer, ADRA Myanmar, Francis said “We will send this petition documents to the head office of ARDA International. The documents will be presented and shared to the world and hope to get recognition of the value and potential of individual children and to get support for children in Myanmar.”
About 262 million children or one out of every five – children around the world are currently denied the right to education and lead to intergenerational poverty according to UNESCO’s statistics.
