Hundreds of civil construction workers, cleaning crews and miners marched through the streets of Peru's capital on Thursday to demand various labor improvements including an increase in their salaries.

The protesters walked through the streets of the historic centre until they arrived in front of the parliament where they protested peacefully.

Riot police accompanied them at all times, but there was no violence. The march caused traffic chaos in downtown Lima.
The demonstration follows another held last week where thousands of farm workers in southern Lima protested for better wages and to modify a law that curtailed their labor rights.
