Greenpeace activists scaled the Waxenstein mountain near Garmish Partenkirchen on Saturday and set up a giant peace sign comprised of flaming torches. Their purpose was to send a message to the Group of Seven leading economic powers prepared to hold their annual gathering in the Bavarian Alps on Sunday.

The flaming peace sign represented "the clear demand that whoever wants peace must get out of fossil fuels." The three day summit, which will take place in Bavaria's Elmau, will tackle issues such as Russia-Ukraine conflict, climate change, energy and the looming food security crisis.
