Parliamentary Affairs: Work coordination meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi presided over a work coordination meeting at the Hluttaw complex in Nay Pyi Taw on October 7th. Speaking at the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker stated that the 3rd Pyithu Hluttaw has reached its third regular session, emphasizing the committees’ crucial role to achieve significant progress of the Hluttaw.

He said that committees are formed to strengthen Hluttaw’s working process in specifying, scrutinizing and recommendations. Committees are urged for constant learning to become skillful individuals in their respective fields. He also stressed the needs for collaborative efforts among government organizations in law scrutinizing, amending and enacting where necessary  to adapt to the modern era.

The Speaker said drafting Legislative Calendar is essential for effective parliamentary procedures of the country. Concerning the rights of persons with disabilities, violence against women and children, elderly care, the socio-economic development of farmers, and natural disaster prevention, the Speaker called for cooperation with the relevant organizations to enact new laws if necessary.

The Speaker also instructed committees to analyst and study international parliamentary progress to become reliable Hluttaw for the public. After hearing reports on conducting capacity building training courses and discussions by the attendees, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker gave concluding speech.
