Paramount agrees to delay Warner Bros. merger

Paramount Skydance agreed to delay its 110 billion dollars merger with Warner Bros. Discovery until June 1, 2027, or until the conclusion of an ongoing antitrust lawsuit. The delay follows a legal challenge from 12 state attorneys general and the Writers Guild of America.

A US federal judge previously issued a temporary restraining order, which moved the parties directly toward an evidence-based trial instead of preliminary injunction hearings. Paramount maintains the merger is pro-competitive and necessary to rival big tech and streaming competitors like Netflix and Amazon.
