Ovada receiving ceremony: Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman attended the event

The 20th  Ovada Receiving Ceremony from the Ovadacariya Board of the  Nay Pyi Taw Uppatasanti Pagoda by the pagoda board of trustees was held in the community hall on the pagoda's platform in the evening on March 12. 

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Sayadaws of the Ovadacariya Board of the pagoda, including Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and presiding Sayadaw of  Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pathabyan  monastery in Thanlyin Dr. Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa.

Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee and presiding Sayadaw of the Dhammasamiddhi  Monastery Bhaddanta Vāsetṭhābhivaṃsa  at the Maha Aung Myay Township, Mandalay Region and local member Sayadaws of Ovadacariya Board.

Also present at the event were the Chairman of the Naypyitaw Council U Than Tun Oo and wife, Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun and wife, Vice Mayor of the Naypyitaw Development Committee U Maung Maung, Members of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, departmental officials, members of the Pagoda Board of Trustees, and office staff.

 

During the ceremony, the attendees, led by Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and Deputy Minister observed five precepts administered by the Chairman Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Dr. Bhaddanta Candimābhivaṃsa. They then listened with reverence to the Mettā Sutta and other Paritta suttas recited by the members of Sangha.

 

Following this, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and Deputy Minister presented religious matters to the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman, who delivered a Sāraṇīya Ovādakatha for the Pagoda Board of Trustees to consistently uphold.

 

Subsequently, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman, Deputy Minister, and other officials offered donations to the Sayadaws. The ceremony concluded with the pouring of water to share merit for all the donations after taking the sermon delivered by Secretary Sayadaw of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee. The event was then formally closed.
