Coordination Meeting: Discussion on increasing agricultural production

Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win attended a coordination meeting on increasing agricultural production in Pathein on February 18.

In his opening speech, the Chief Minister stressed the need to meet planting targets, increase crop yields, and achieve edible oil self-sufficiency. He said efforts are being made to improve per-acre yields, enhance the quality and market price of Paw San rice, and expand the cultivation of oil crops. He also highlighted the importance of working in groups and closely supervising farming activities.

Farmers and business representatives discussed cassava production and export plans, organic Paw San rice farming, sunflower cultivation, coconut production, and the manufacturing of agricultural machinery suited to local conditions.

Officials also reported on rice and oil sufficiency, crop yield targets, agricultural education programs, and plans to develop export zones. The Chief Minister coordinated discussions and gave further instructions to support agricultural development in the region.
