Outcome of Cooperation: Water quality assessment project in Shan State

Mekong and its tributaries water assessment project in Shan State with the supporting of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Fund were launched since 2019. The water quality monitoring and testing was carried out monthly in Tachileik Township, Shan State in Myanmar from July, 2019 to March 2020.

The water quality testing is conducted with the EDC water quality testing device purchased to support the implementation of the project.

In the future, the project will facilitate for the agricultural sector, mineral extraction, and transportation through waterway, development of socio-economic life of the locals, monitoring and testing in waste management impact by the tourism sector as well as mitigation of water pollution in Mekong delta region and the environment of Mekong River and sustaining of its water quality.

The project will be beneficial for the countries in sub Mekong region and the people along the Mekong River, according to the press release of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Myanmar.
