Ordinance 8/2026: Administration and judiciary vested to C-in-C

The President's Office issued Ordinance 8/2026 on October 18. It stated that for the purpose of restoring administrative, community peace and stability, and rule of law to normal conditions in the townships under Ordinance 7/2026, martial law is hereby continued, and the authority and duties related to administration and the judiciary are vested in the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, in accordance with Article 413, Sub-section (b) of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services may exercise these powers and duties personally or may delegate them to an appropriate military commander. This Order shall remain in force for a period of ninety (90) days from today. It was signed by President U Min Aung Hlaing.
