







President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Min Aung Hlaing, who is currently on a state- visit to China, attended and officially opened the “Myanmar-China Investment and Trade Networking Summit (MCITP-2026) Shanghai” held on Thursday morning, at the Radisson Hotel in Shanghai.
At the ceremony, the President formally inaugurated the MCITP-2026 Shanghai Summit and toured the exhibition booths on display. In his opening remarks, the President discussed matters relating to expanding economic and trade cooperation between Myanmar and China, promoting the development of the investment sector, and further strengthening bilateral economic relations between the two countries.
The President stated that Myanmar stands as one of China’s major trading partners and that there is strong potential to further expand economic and trade cooperation between the two countries. He also noted that Myanmar’s geographical location is a strategic advantage connecting China, India, and the ASEAN region, and that Myanmar plays an important role in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor (CMEC) projects.
In addition, the President said that China is the largest investor in Myanmar, with investments in sectors including manufacturing, electric power, mining, transportation and communications, oil and natural gas, agriculture and livestock, and tourism. After delivering the opening address, the President also responded to questions raised by attending businesspeople and representatives.
