Opening Ceremony: Diamond Jubilee Archway & Innovation Forum

The opening ceremony of Diamond Jubilee Archway of the University of Yangon took place on Thursday. Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu and Deputy Minister U Nay Myo Hlaing opened the archway by cutting the ribbon and sprinkled scented water to the inscriptions.

Subsequently, the opening ceremony of Research and Innovation Forum continued with the speech by the Union Minister. Highlighting the education sector as fundamental pillar for country’s development, the Union Minister stated the Ministry’s efforts for promoting higher education system, along with the designation of the University of Yangon, University of Mandalay and Naypyitaw State Academy as Research and Innovation Pilot Universities.

The Union Minister urged for continuous implementing of research process, adding that research process of the universities are not only for publication but also for adoption of the policies for regional and industrial economy development as well as socio economic development of the nation.

The Union Minister and party later toured around the galleries. The Research and Innovation Forum is scheduled to be held from 30th to 31st July at the Diamond Jubilee Hall in Yangon. A total of 63 research papers covering the sectors of science, social sciences, education, technology, economy, environment, regional and MSME development will be read out during the 2-day forum. In addition, research posters, prototypes and physical outcomes are being displayed at the forum.
