Opening Ceremony of Coal Dryer: Chairman of EEDC delivered the opening remarks

The opening ceremony for the second-phase coal dryer of the Tigyit Coal-Fired Steam Power Plant was held at the Tigyit Coal-Fired Power Plant in Pinlaung Township, Shan State (South) on November 26.

First, the coal dryer opening ceremony was officiated by the Chairman of the Electricity and Energy Development Commission, Union Minister for the Ministry (1) of the President’s Office U Tin Aung San, Union Minister for the Ministry of Electric Power U Nyan Tun, Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung and responsible officials, who cut the ribbon to inaugurate the facility.

Afterward, the Chairman of the Electricity and Energy Development Commission and officials toured and inspected the operation of the second-phase coal dryer, the functioning of the control room, and the transmission of electricity being supplied to the national grid.

Officials provided explanations during the inspection. Next, at the briefing hall, Chairman of the Electricity and Energy Development Commission, Union Minister U Tin Aung San, delivered the opening remarks. He stated that in order to meet the country’s electricity demands, short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans for power plant projects are being implemented, alongside efforts to invite local and foreign investments.

He added that the Tigyit Coal-Fired Power Plant had already undergone major upgrades in its first phase and is generating 90 megawatts of electricity. With the completion of the second-phase coal dryer, the plant will be able to generate 120 megawatts with an increase of 30 megawatts which will allow the public better access to electricity etc.

Following this, Union Minister U Nyan Tun explained the current operational status of the plant and the construction process of the second-phase coal dryer. The Chairman of Pa-O Self-Administered Zone Leading Body, U Khun Ye Htway, and representatives from Wuxi Hua Guang (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. also delivered words of appreciation.

Afterward, they inspected the operation of the fly ash storage facility, the processing and planned utilization of ash produced by the plant, and the coal-mining operations that supply the plant. Officials provided detailed explanations, and the Commission Chairman provided necessary guidance, it’s reported.
