









By the invitation of the deputy prime minister and public health minister of Thailand Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, union minister for health Dr. Thet Khaing win attended the opening ceremony of ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergency and Emerging Diseases held at the Bangrak Medical Center Building, Thailand on 26 August.
At the ceremony, the deputy prime minister and public health minister delivered an opening remark and a video message marked the opening ceremony sent by the Minister of Health, Labour, and Welfare of Japan Mr. Katsunobu KATO was screened.
Next, the video clip on the emerging of the ASEAN Center was shown and the representatives from the ASEAN member countries together with the deputy prime minister opened the center by pressing the auto button. Then, the union minister and attendees viewed round the exhibition booth.
The ASEAN Center for Public Health Emergency and Emerging Diseases was opened with the assistance provided by Japan and the Public Health Emergency and Emerging Diseases in ASEAN countries can be responded, further close collaboration among the ASEAN countries for the prevention, control and treatment of acute infectious disease outbreak, exchanging public health information among ASEAN countries and the giving training will be able to carry out.
After the ceremony, the union minister met with the deputy prime minister and public health minister of Thailand. The deputy prime minister extended his gratitude to Myanmar for the constant support for the emerging of the center and the union minister reciprocated his words of thanks to the Thailand for the donation of medicines and medical equipments including COVID-19 vaccines.
Next, the deputy prime minister of Thailand and union minister cordially discussed on the matters on further cooperation of Myanmar and Thailand in the healthcare measures, accelerating the prevention and control measures of infectious diseases including COVID-19 at the border areas, medicines and medical equipments, laboratory equipments and COVID-19 vaccines to be donated to Myanmar by Thailand and the bilateral cooperation, it’s learnt.
