Offering Rice And Offertories: People In Rakhine State Offered Rice And Offertories

The ceremony of offering rice and offertories to all members of Sangha who reside in Rakhine State organized by the Rakhine State Government was held at the compound of LawkaNanDar  Pagoda in Sittwe Township, Rakhine State on the 1st of February.   

First, the Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr. Aung Kyaw Min, Commander of West Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo, state government ministers, state advocate general, secretary of the state government and officials attended the ceremony observed five precepts administered by the presiding Sayadaw of Nandarama Pariyatti Sarthintaik  Baddanta NandaThiri and received Paritta Suttas recited by the Sangha.

Next, the Chief Minister reported religious matters and then chief minister, commander and wife and officials offered the offertories to the Sangha.

Then, the congregation led by the chief minister took the sermon delivered by the presiding Sayadaw of Dhamma Thukha (ဓမ္မသုခ) monastery, Sittwe Township and shared the merits gained.

Afterward, the chief minister, commander and officials offer ‘Soon’ (day meal) to the Sangha.

In the afternoon, Rakhine State Government, West Command, departments, civil societies and local residents offered rice and offertories to 200 members of Sangha including State Sangha representative Sayadaws, Ovadacariya Sayadaws, state and township level Sangha Nayaka Sayadaws and nuns.

Then, the chief minister and officials viewed around the offering rice and offertories by the departments, civil societies and local residents. Likewise, the ceremony of offering rice and offertories was held in the townships of Rakhine State, it’s reported.
