New York City held it’s first-ever Japan Day parade on Saturday to celebrate Japanese Americans and their heritage.

The parade included dance and musical performances and was led by the event's grand marshall, actor George Takei.

Ahead of the procession, spectators listened to speeches from Takei and Mikio Mori, the Consul General of Japan in New York, amongst others.
