A regional-level ceremony marking the 2026 Nutrition Development Week activities was held at the City Hall of the Mandalay City Development Committee office in Chan Aye Thar San Township.

The event was organized with the objectives of increasing nutritional knowledge among the public, promoting the adoption of proper nutritional practices, and fostering the emergence of healthy, physically fit, and intellectually developed citizens. At the ceremony, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung delivered an opening address, stating that adequate and balanced nutrition is the most fundamental foundation for the physical growth and intellectual development of newborns and young children, the enhanced academic performance of school-age children, the improved work capacity of adults, and overall human resource development.

He emphasized that starting from breastfeeding, efforts must be made to strengthen and enhance age-appropriate nutritional care through public participation. Following this, the Chief Minister and officials viewed nutritional educational video clips and exhibition displays. They then administered Vitamin A supplements to children under five years old and presented them with commemorative gifts. Additionally, micronutrient tablets and nutritional supplements were provided to pregnant mothers, it’s reported.
