Greece's President and Prime Minister were the third and fourth people in the country to receive the vaccine against the coronavirus in Athens on Sunday.

The President was preceded by the head nurse of intensive care unit at the same hospital and an 88-year-old man who lives in a nursing home. The Prime Minister was vaccinated at another state hospital shortly afterward.

More state officials are going to be vaccinated in Athens on Monday, along with health personnel and elderly residents of nursing homes. Vaccinations in the rest of the country will begin on Tuesday.
Greece received 9,750 doses of the vaccine on Friday night and will receive about another 84,000 by the end of the year, enough to complete the first phase of vaccinations by mid-January.
