






Hailing 60th Anniversary Peasants' Day, KaNyuntYoe water sluice gate built by Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department of Yangon region was inaugurated in Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township, Monday.
At the opening ceremony, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein said that by constructing KaNyuntYoe water sluice gate, it will help irrigation to 1,500 acres of farmland in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township during the summer, cultivation of double and mixed crops, preventing flooding of farmland in the rainy season, availability of drinking water for the township, creating job opportunities according to increasing agricultural products and development of health and social sectors.
KaNyuntYoe sluice gate is reinforced concrete structure using stainless steel type doors that can resistant the salt water erosion. It was built with the aim of supplying irrigated water to 1500 acres of summer paddy cultivation and to prevent inflow of salt water from Bago River.
Yangon city Development Committee Chairman Mayor U Bo Htay, a regional minister and an official formally opened the sluice gate. The Chief Minister and party inspected the sluice gate and called for its long-term durability and storing fresh water systematically.
