Vienna Zoo's latest attraction has made its public debut - a new pygmy marmoset, one of the world's smallest primate species.

The baby marmoset was born in April, and it's just 5 centimeters tall and weighs only 15 grams. Marmosets' natural homeland is the Amazon rainforest where their survival is at risk due to deforestation, zookeeper said. Marmosets subsist largely on a diet of tree gum which they lick from the bark, but they eat insects and fruit too. The zoo now houses seven pygmy marmosets. It is part of the European Endangered Species Program (EEP) which tries to keep endangered animal species alive.
