

A seminar on “The Negative Effects of Corruption on the Successful Implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals" organized by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) was held through Hybrid format on 6th March.
Economist Mr. Jerrery D. Sachs discussed the seminar and 7 representatives led by Chairman of Myanmar Anti-Corruption Commission attended the event. A total of 122 representatives including Anti-Corruption Experts in the respective fields and alumni who attended Anti-Corruption Master Program and training courses opened by IACA attended the event.
The Economist said that there are 17 goals in the UN SDGs and 169 in the target.The issue is a public policy and a strong government will be needed to achieve it.In developed countries, corruption is happening in various forms and is an obstacle to implement successfully the SDG Goals and requires a lot of resources, he said.
In regard with the discussion of Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission of Myanmar on the situation where the implementation of the SDG goals may be convenient for developed countries but there may be obstacles for developing countries due to technical and human resources, Mr. Jerrery D. Sachs responded the facts. Mr. Jerrery D. Sachs and some persons attended the seminar in-person and other representatives participated online and they discussed the implementation of SDG goals and importance of anti-corruption.
