Significant natural gas reserves have been identified in both shallow and deep offshore areas of Myanmar based on 3D seismic surveys and exploratory drilling results.

Myanmar currently operates four offshore gas projects that supply energy for electricity generation, fertilizer production, and industrial use. Four additional offshore projects are planned, including major prospects in the Ayeyawady and Tanintharyi offshore blocks.

The Ayeyawady Offshore Block is estimated to contain about 14 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas at P90 confidence, with total resources potentially reaching up to 95 Tcf. Further exploration drilling is planned before commercial production begins.
