N. Korea leader stresses need to strengthen defence

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stressed the need to strengthen the country's defence capabilities at a meeting of the ruling Workers' Party this week, the state-run Korean Central News Agency reported early Saturday.

During the meeting, North Korean officials also addressed the country's COVID-19 crisis and appointed new officials. Choe Sun Hui, a key nuclear negotiator, was appointed as the North Korean Foreign Minister.
