Myanmar / Laos: Condolences to National Assembly President

Speaker of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw U Aung Lin Dwe visited the Embassy of Laos in Yangon on Wednesday afternoon to sign the book of condolences following the passing of Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane, President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Speaker expressed deep sorrow and sympathies at the embassy reception hall. Mr. Xaysomphone Phomvihane was elected as President of the National Assembly of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic for its 9th legislature (serving from March 2021 to December 2025) and re-elected for its 10thlegislature in March 2026. He passed away on August 8, 2026, at the age of 70.
