Myanmar Education Conference: Prime Minister attends opening ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Winand many other officials attended the opening of the Myanmar Education Conference 2024 at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.

This three-day event aims to ensure the success of the education sector being implemented for the youth who will eventually take on the responsibilities of the State.In his speech, the Senior General stressed the theme of Conference “To Further Promote Education, to Develop Human Resources”.

The State Administration Council has been focusing on the enhancement of the nation’s education standards.The foundation of a country's development is the abundance of educational resources. Only when one is educated, can one acquire the qualities of skills that are essential for life.

To turn out good and skillful young people depends on teachers. The government has prioritized creating learning opportunities for all school-age children, implementing the KG+9 educational scheme as a compulsory learning plan. It’s necessary to implement the outcome-based education system, the Senior General added.

Deputy Director General, Sagaing Region Education Dept., Thet Lay Oo, said " Organizing the education conference can find out the facts in the education sector which must be reformed. The Myanmar Education Conference 2023was able to find out such facts and they were reformed. There are many things left to do for educational development. Education Conference is an important event for our country. If stakeholders will make efforts to successfully their tasks, we will get developed education system, I’m sure."

Director, Department of Basic Education, Dr. Cho Cho Win, said " At this conference, I will read a paper titled ‘Nurturing the Students to love the Country’. My paper will help the students to obey disciplines and laws. Our target is to have unity in the country. The students need to be good and skillful ones for the State duties."

The conference’s objectives include fostering patriotism among youth, producing well-educated individuals, promoting vocational education to support manufacturing, enhancing teachers’ capabilities, improving research and innovation, and strengthening the education system to guarantee quality for the youth.

This year’s conference till the 27th of June will involve discussions to review and refine educational outcomes and conditions for future generations. The outcomes of the 2024 education conference are expected to contribute significantly to the nation’s educational development.
