Myanmar-ASEAN: UEC chairman received ASEAN delegation

Chairman of Union Election Commission U Thein Soe received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam H.E. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof and the Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dato Lim Jock Hoi at the reception hall of the UEC office, Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

At the meeting, the UEC chairman clarified the status of examining voters list used in the 2020 general election, ground inspections of ballot papers and findings, daily announcement and conditions to be done that is included as the first one in the five future work programs set by the state administration council and the situation of holding discussion with the political parties. Then, the works to be continued regarding the election to be held, the condition of the cooperation of ASEAN, if the election is to be held, the status of collaboration of the ASEAN’s 5 consensus points and the SAC’s 5 future programs and working together including Myanmar political affairs and the falling economic activities which affected by COVID-19 by appointing an ASEAN ambassador to Myanmar, were cordially and openly discussed.
