Myanmar Arts Center : MORAC inspects construction progress

Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin visited Myanmar Arts Center which was situated in Insein Township, Yangon Region on Friday. During the inspection, the Project Director of A Mi Myay Construction Company presented reports on operational performance and progress of 7 construction projects that are being undertaking under the 2024-2025 fiscal year. 

The Director General of Department of Fine Art also reported on the ongoing work process and allocation of project activities. Upon the reports, the Union Minister gave instructions to use good quality products for set standard needs, ensuring quality control measure.

Furthermore, the Union Minister instructed the matter on supervising the submission of Quality Control report, and ensuring that the building can be resilient to the earthquakes with Richter Scale 8.0. Myanmar Arts Center Project implementation has been implemented on 8.41 acre land plot on Min Dhamma Road, Insein Township Yangon since 2015. 

It aims to feature various kind of arts events such as film, music and traditional dramatic arts, meeting international standard. The construction works has started on 28 March, 2016, with the completion of Skeleton Phase-1 the steel structure main building. 

The remaining phase of the project are being continued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. Establishment of Myanmar Arts Center is aimed not only for entertainment but also for organizing art exhibition, competition, workshop and seminar.

Upon completion of this project, it will allow the international organization to stage the cultural exchange events such as opera, drama, orchestra and concert as well as painting, sculpture and lecture. It is also learnt that this initiative will not only allow young Myanmar artists from art and performance industry to showcase their art to the world, but also provide valuable opportunities to engage and collaborate with global artistic communities.
