MSMEs development in Magway: The Region Chief Minister meets MSME entrepreneurs

Patron of Magway Region MSME Agency, the Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin met with MSME entrepreneurs at the Magway Region City Hall on 23rd February.

At the meeting, the Region Chief Minister said the meeting was organized to fulfill the needs of the MSME entrepreneurs and solve the difficulitis they are facing. Magway Region MSME Agency is reformed to improve the MSME enterprises within the region systematically. He said 90% of the nation’s economy depends on MSME enterprises and these enterprises are providng job opportunities for three-fourths of the citizens of Myanmar.

MSMEs play a crucial role not only in Myanmar but also in Asia. And, there are 22,456 registered MSME enterprises in the region and SME Member cards have already been issued to 2,898 small enterprises and 267 medium enterprises. To implement the Magway Region to be the main producer of edible oil and cotton products under the guidance of the Prime Minister, MSME enterprises based on local raw materials need to be developed.

Therefore, MSME entrepreneurs have to coordinate with the MSME Agency to upgrade and develop their enterprises and the Region Government is aslo striving to establish an industrial zone in Magway in the near future.After that, the attendees reported sector-wise implemenatation on which the Region Chief Minister coordinated the needs.
