Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony: Over 1,000 saplings planted at Sittwe University

2025 monsoon tree planting ceremony was held at the Sittwe University on June 7. Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attended the ceremony, together with the Patron of State Women’s Affairs Committee and concerned officials.

Monsoon tree planning event has been held annually nationwide with the aims for ensuring sustainable growth of forest resources, implementing clean and green urbanism and preservation of forest ecosystem and biodiversity along with the development of recreation places for the public.

The Chief Minister urged all concerned departments, social organization and locals to participate in the efforts to fight against deforestation, forestry preservation and restoration. He also called for systematic forest land utilization in accordance with forest procedures, emphasizing on long-term maintenance of planted trees.

He added that the state government is making strenuous efforts for preservation of mangrove forest in coastal areas, long-term sustainability of state owned forests and watershed forest reservation for long term durability of rivers, dams and reservoirs. He called for cooperation of all stakeholders in implementing these tasks as a national duty.

Then, the saplings were planted at the designated places by the Chief Minister and wife and officials. Over 1,000 saplings were planted during the ceremony.
