Mine Explosion: Temporary closure of Minsu-KyaukSe rail sections

Mine explosion occured on Steel Bridge No- 738 and concrete-bridges between KyaukSe-Minsu stations of Yangon-Mandalay rail section, Kyaukse township, Mandalay Region at 8:40 am on 10th March.

According to the report, security forces investigated the site and found the 2-ft wide damage on steel rail, along with an unexploded mine. Due to the incident, Minsu-KyaukSe Down/Up rail sections were temporarily closed at 8:50 am.  

Regional officials and local security forces conducted the investigation at the site in real time and defused the unexploded mine. Also Myanma Railway staff repaired the damaged railway section immediately and re-opened the Kyaukse-Minsu up-rail section at 1:06 pm and down-rail section at 3:20 pm. Although there was no delay in passenger train operations due to the explosion, the schedule for cargo trains were postponed.

The explosion also left damages on 75-pound steel railway, along with the concrete and wooden sleepers. Since 1st February 2021, the insurgent groups have committed (130) times of mine planting/destructions in the area of railways and rail stations, (49) times of mining rail bridges and (12) times of setting fire on station building and staff houses.
