Memorial alms-offering ceremony: SAC Chairman and wife attended the ceremony

The Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the State Administration Council, in the morning on April 28, held a memorial alms-offering ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, commemorating the members of Sangha, nuns, and civilians who lost their lives in the Mandalay earthquake struck on March 28.

The ceremony was attended by the members of Sangha led by the Presiding Sayadawgyi of Pauk Myin Monastery in Lewe Township, Nay Pyi Taw, Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Janinda , and Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Acinna of Maha Thihanada Monastery in Tatkone. Also in attendance were the Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than New, the Council’s Secretary and wife, Joint Secretary and wife, Council members and their spouses, Union-level officials, Union Ministers and their spouses, senior military officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their spouses, Deputy Ministers, and other responsible officials.

The ceremony began with a video presentation outlining the extent of damage caused by the Mandalay earthquake, the extensive rescue and relief operations jointly carried out by both local and international aid groups, and the ongoing systematic recovery and rebuilding efforts, prioritized by urgency and necessity.

The alms-offering ceremony began with the chanting of “Namo Tassa” three times and paying homage to the Buddha. The audience then observed the Five Precepts administered by the presiding Sayadaw of Maha Thihanada Monastery.

After that, the State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister, his wife, and attendees took the Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha.

The SAC Chairman along with his wife, then presented donations and offerings to the presiding Sayadaw of Pauk Myaing Monastery.

Subsequently, the Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister and his wife, along with the Council’s Secretary and wife, Joint Secretary and wife, and Council members and their spouses, also offered the offertories to the membes of Sangha.

Later, the Prime Minister and his wife, along with the attendees, listened to a Dhamma discourse delivered by the Sayadaw of Mingalar Zayyon Monastery Pali Takkatho Agga Maha Pandita, Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Dhaja Bhaddanta Vimalabuddhi and shared the merits gained dedicating to the the members of Sangha, nuns, and civilians who lost their lives in the Mandalay earthquake.

After the event, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister, Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister, their spouses, and the attendees personally offered day meals to the members of Sangha, it’s learnt.
