




Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the Chairman and members of Myanmar Press Council in Yangon on 4th March. The Union Minister said it is important for media development and providing true news to the public.
Due to the development of information technologies, there are changes in media field and so also in the public consumption for the media. Especially, the new forms of media which is known as New Media are being used rather than the traditional media.
With this development, there are many misinformation and fake news to take advantage on the people, especially the young people. He urged to council members to promote awareness on information technology and media among the youths and students, and also called for cooperation in implementing the welfare of the people and regional stability by means of media.
The Union Minister later accepted the books, donated for 417 libraries under the Information and Public Relations Department, which worth 2.5 million kyats. The Union Minister also presented the documentary video of Diamond Jubilee Union Day Celebration and periodicals to the press council.
