Manufacturing and Assembling: New Locomotive Assembling Factory in NPT inspected

Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San inspected New Locomotive Assembling Factory (Nay Pyi Taw) of Myanma Railways on 13th February.

At the meeting hall of the factory, officials report on manufacturing and assembling processes, manufacturing of new diesel electric locomotives and test running of Diesel - ElectricMultiple Units(DEMU) coaches. In response to the reports, the Union Minister stressed on completion of new locomotive manufacturing tasks within the set standard, worksite safety and manufacturing of remaining locomotives within the working schedule.

The Union Minister then viewed around the factory and looked into manufacturing and assembling of four new diesel electric locomotives and test running of DEMU coach. After looking into the test running, he called for using the installed locomotives in the passenger trains on the railroad sections where they are really needed.

At the New Locomotive Assembling Factory (Nay Pyi Taw), the skilled engineering staffs of Myanma Railways are planning to manufacture advanced and new 1,200 hpdiesel locomotives and the four new locomotives have been assembled. The 5th new locomotive is being installed and efforts are being made to complete it in March 2023.

The New Locomotive Assembling Factory (Nay Pyi Taw) manufactured 10 new 2000 hp diesel electric locomotives to be used in the trains running on the hilly road section and cargo trains in 2018 and 2019 and these are being used on the rail-road sections.
