Malaysian PM holds talks with Vietnamese counterpart

Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob arrived in Vietnam's capital Hanoi for a three day visit to boost trade and other links.Yaakob, who arrived on Sunday, attended a welcome ceremony on Monday morning with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.Chinh told Yaakob that his visit to Hanoi would help to develop new opportunities for cooperation post-COVID-19.

After the meeting, Vietnam and Malaysia signed several agreements on legal cooperation, labor exports and diplomatic training. Malaysia is Vietnam's second-largest investor and trading partner in Southeast Asia. Despite the impact of the pandemic, two-way trade reached $15 billion US dollars in 2021, increasing 25% from the previous year.
