Maha Samaya Day: YGN Region CM attended Maha Samaya Day

The Maha Samaya Day on the full moon day of Nayon at the Shwedagon pagoda and the ceremony of completing the gilding the whole body of Botahtaung pagoda, consecration ceremony and the merit sharing ceremony were held in the morning on June 10 and attended by Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command Ma-J Gen. Pyae Sone Lin, Region Government members and departmental officials.

First, Chief Minister U Soe Thein and officials offered alms-food, flowers, water, fruits, and oil lamps to the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Following this, they proceeded to the Botahtaung Kyike Dae Att Hsan-Daw-U Pagoda to attend the ceremony of completing the gilding the whole body of Botahtaung pagoda, consecration ceremony and the merit sharing ceremony.

Initially, 108 members of Sangha performed the Buddha Bhiseka consecration ceremony around the sacred hair relic chamber and other designated prayer halls.

Subsequently, the merit-sharing ceremony continued at the expanded Dhamma Hall at the pagoda precinct. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and invited guests observed the five precepts administered by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chair and Presiding Sayadaw of Thanlyin Min Kyaung Pahtabyan Sarthintaik Dr. Bhaddanta Candimabhivamsa , Attendees then listened to Paritta Suttas recited by the Sangha.

Later, Chief Minister U Soe Thein supplicated religious affairs and the Chief Minister, Commander and well-wishers offered the offertories to the members of Sangha.

Then, Yangon Region Sangha Nayaka Committee Chair and Ovadacariya Sayadaw of Botahtaung Kyike Dae Att Hsan-Daw-U Pagoda, Dr. Bhaddanta Aggasami , delivered a Dhamma message expressing joy and appreciation for the successful offering of the golden robe.

Following that, attendees listened to a sermon from Ovadacariya Sayadaw of the Tipitaka Selection Committee and the State Central Sangha Committee member Bhaddanta Nārada Bhivamsa  (Hla Yatana Sayadaw), and shared the merits gained.
