







Due to the intensity of Typhoon Yagi in the South China Sea and the intensity of the smaller storms occurring in the central and northwestern parts of the Bay of Bengal, continuous heavy rainfall has occurred in some regions and states, including the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, causing flooding and inundation.
The continuous rainfall has led to rising river and stream levels, resulting in flooding in 56 townships within the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Kayah State, Kayin State, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Mon State, Shan State, and Ayeyawady Region.
Flooding has affected neighborhoods and villages, damaging roads, bridges, and various buildings such as residential homes, office/department buildings, schools, and other structures. In the 56 affected townships, 2,116 homes have been damaged, and 158,373 homes have been inundated.
In response, the regional and state governments have set up a total of 438 relief camps. Assistance is being provided by the military, police, fire brigades, civil defense forces, and volunteer organizations, actively engaging in rescue and relief operations. Till the September 16th at 4:00 PM, reports indicate that 226 people have died, and 77 are missing due to the flooding.
Additionally, the damage caused by the floods has affected basic infrastructure, crops, and livestock in 84 townships within Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, Kayin State, Bago Region, Magway Region, Mandalay Region, Shan State, and Ayeyawady Region.
Reports up to September 16th at 4:00 PM show that 117 office/department buildings, 1,040 schools, and 386 religious buildings have been damaged. Roads and bridges, electric poles, and communication towers have also been submerged or damaged. Over 120,000 livestock have died, and more than 64,000 acres of rice and various crops have been submerged.
