Local Sesame Market: Sesame to China and Japan

In Myanmar, sesame is mainly cultivated in Mandalay, Magway and Sagaing region. Since early February, sesame price have been high in the Mandalay sesame and bean and pluses market due to the higher of sesame from China after the borders gates have been reopened and it is the highest price in a decade. And this year is the time of getting more income for the sesame growers.

At present, a bag of sesame fetches 310,000 kyats in the market. 170,000 kyats for a bag of white sesame and 190,000 kyats for a bag of black one were in a previous year. Likewise, sesame is also exported to Japan, it’s reported.
