




The knowledge enhancement seminar on Statistics Law and by-laws in the Union Territory Area Nay Pyi Taw was held at the Nay Pyi Taw Council Office at 10 a.m. on January 20 with the attendance of Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Maung Maung Naing, Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, director-general of Central Statistical Organization, members of Committee for Accurate and High Quality Statistics in Nay Pyi Taw and departmental officials.
In his opening remark, the Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein said that the seminar is conducted to put the Statistics Law promulgated in 2018 and its by-laws released in January and May of 2021 in force, to broaden the horizon of Statistics Law and by-laws among the relevant departments and private entrepreneurs involving in the national statistical system and to implement the statistical processes complying to the law.
According to the Statistics Law, the Central Committee for Accurate and High Quality Statistics has been formed to provide the accurate, quality, and credible statistics timely. Myanmar is country exercised decentralized statistics system.
Together with the Central Statistical Organization, the departments and private sector providing the statistics need to put collective efforts for the development of national statistical system. Next, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr. Maung Maung Naing gave a remark.
Afterward, the Director-General of Central Statistical Organization U Tun Zaw clarified the contents in the Statistics Law and by-laws and the departmental officials took part in the discussion and inquired questions.
