Keiko Fujimori sworn in as Peruvian president

Keiko Fujimori was sworn in as president of Peru for the 2026-2031 term at a ceremony held at the Legislative Palace in Lima on Tuesday, where she outlined a "clear path" for the Andean country's development.

After receiving the presidential sash, Fujimori delivered her first speech as president, pledging to work toward measurable goals and maintain constant accountability. The new president took the opportunity to reaffirm that, under her administration, Peru's foreign policy will be strengthened, prioritizing regional integration by promoting agreements with the Pacific Alliance and the Andean Community. Similarly, she plans to prioritize Peru's role in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum and open "new opportunities for investment and cooperation with friendly countries in the Middle East."
