Iraqis try to keep cool in scorching heat wave

Baghdad residents struggled to cope with a scorching heatwave Sunday as temperatures soared above 48 degrees Celsius. Such heatwaves in Iraq add to the population's hardships as the country suffers from regular power cuts.

Gripped by the soaring heat, Iraqis in Baghdad were cooling down by any means possible. People in the capital flocked to water parks for respite from the blistering heat. Meanwhile, buffalos happily splashed around with children in a tributary of the Tigris River.
