Iranian FM meets Pakistani counterpart on sidelines of UN General Assembly

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and held in-depth discussions on pressing regional and international developments, particularly regarding security and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Ishaq Dar underscored the critical need for "dialogue, diplomacy, and sustained engagement" to preserve regional peace and stability.

The meeting served as a follow-up to their recent telephone consultations, where Pakistan emphasized the vital importance of ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe, expeditious passage of commercial and energy shipping lanes. Both sides agreed to remain in close contact and maintain ongoing diplomatic cooperation moving forward.
