Iran denies requesting talks with US

Iran on Friday denied US President Donald Trump's claims that Tehran requested negotiations. Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated that Iran never sought direct talks with Washington.

He also clarified that Iran only accepted a visit from a Qatari regional mediator and warned of reciprocal action following alleged U.S. breaches of a framework agreement. Meanwhile, Trump said on Friday that Iran asked Washington to continue talks and that Washington agreed, while reiterating that a ceasefire secured last month was “over.”
