International Workers’ Day: MoL UM attended the celebration in Yangon

Union Minister for Labour U Chit Swe, along with Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and relevant officials, in the morning of May 1st, attended the 2025 International Workers’ Day celebration held at the Hlaingthaya (West) Township Hall of Yangon Region.

At the event, Union Minister U Chit Swe read the message of congratulations sent by the Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, in honor of International Workers’ Day. Following that, a workers’ representative and an employers’ representative each delivered commemorative speeches related to the significance of International Workers’ Day.

After that, Union Minister, Yangon Region Chief Minister, and officials officially opened a Job Opportunity Fair, by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, held in honor of International Workers’ Day. They observed the booths run by the Department of Labour, which was issuing Labour Registration Cards, and interacted with job seekers and representatives from factories, workshops, and companies participating in the event.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials visited the National Occupational Safety and Health Training School in Hlaingthaya (East) Township. There, they met with senior officials from departmental offices across Yangon Region and instructed that, in accordance with the 2012 Social Security Law and By-law, departments and agencies should collaborate to properly implement educational assistance for full-time students who are children of social security-insured workers, and 40% family support compensation for insured workers affected by natural disasters.
