











To mark the 11th International Day of Yoga, took place at Thuwana Indoor Stadium in Yangon on Saturday, with the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”.
The event was attended by Yoga enthusiasts and it was also graced by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur along with departmental officials of Myanmar.
Indian Ambassador to Myanmar, H.E. Abhay Thakur said "I’m very happy to see that the International Day of Yoga is becoming more and more popular in Myanmar. Great to see so many Yoga enthusiasts, dignitaries are joining us in this celebration. In particular, we were very honour to mark the Yoga Day in Maravijaya Buddha Image yesterday in Nay Pyi Taw as well as Maha Bodhi Complex. This day, I wish everyone good health, success, very peaceful and harmonious and existence within yourself, with your families and with your society. "
To celebrate the International Day of Yoga, enthusiasts from Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Sittwe and Indian communities took part in Yoga exercises in groups.
Trainer, Thiri said "I join this event at the invitation of the India Embassy. I started doing Yoga in 2012 for my cervical spondylosis treatment. Later, I feel my body is better after doing Yoga. So, I want to share the benefits of doing Yoga to others and I learnt how to do Yoga. Nowadays, there are many professional Yoga class and centers out there and I want to urged everyone to do Yoga for physically and mentally well-being."
In 2014, the United Nations adopted 21st June as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of physical fitness and mental health benefits of practicing yoga.
