

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn on Saturday attended a meeting on digital preservation of motion pictures.
In this meeting at the Information and Public Relations Department in Bahan Township of Yangon, the Union Minister said that history and culture of Myanmar from the motion pictures need to be preserved for the long term.
He also highlighted purchase of Australia-made film cleaner and film Scanner in the fiscal year of 2022-2023 for the digital preservation of motion pictures and training to use those two machines. Advanced training will be given to employees and the Digital Restoration processes being carried out in across the world will be carried out.
The Union Minister also stressed plan to build National Film Archive. And, he heard reports on matters including preservation conditions of movies that were shown on the Myanma Radio and Television and gave necessary instructions.
The Union Minister also visited the Film Archive in Bahan Township and inspected the digital preservation of motion pictures. Also, at the Printing and Publishing Enterprise in Botahtaung Township, the Union Minister held meetings with officials from the Tun Foundation to publish the Myanmar Encyclopedia Volume (2) and with experts to form National Literature Award Selection Committee and Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Board.
He also visited the Tun Foundation Library on Bo Aung Kyaw Road. The Tun Foundation Library has more than 100 genres of books, including more than 40,000 foreign books and more than 8,000 Myanmar books. The Union Minister also inspected a building where the Media Development Center will be opened.
On Friday evening, the Union Minister enjoyed the Friday Night Live Show at the MRTV on Pyay Road. This Friday Night Live Show will be replayed at 10:30 am on Sunday, it’s reported.
