








Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo made inspections in Ayeyawaddy Region.
First, in Nyaungdon Township, at the Punhlaing Water Gate project hall near MoeMaKha Village, the Union Minister met with Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win and many other officials to discuss flood and disaster prevention works, acceleration of agriculture and livestock sector and ways to increate private sector investment.
In Ayeyawaddy Region, 8 important dams with over 400 miles in length prevent fields, homes and infrastructure from floods. In Maubin Township, the Union Minister inspected the private agriculture and livestock enterprises and raw and value-added fish and prawn products processing.
There, the Union Minister stressed importance of adherence to the farmland policies and quality export. The Union Minister continued his inspection trip to WaTaw Village, viewed green manure planting and discussed agriculture sector in the area. Also, the Union Minister visited the Fishery Institute [Twante] and heard report on plan to offer the 3-year diploma course.
In his response, the Union Minister called for efforts to upgrade the Institute into the College in the future. It’s learnt that the Ayeyawaddy Region produced over 332 million viss of fish in the fiscal year of 2020-2021.
